President's Message

President's Pic.jpg

Fellow Regentonians,

I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as President of the SLGSAANA Washington, DC Metro Area Chapter. I sincerely thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility. It is a privilege to stand alongside such a dedicated group of alumni who share a common bond and a shared commitment to the success of the Sierra Leone Grammar School.

As an alumni chapter, our mission goes beyond simply staying connected—we must actively work to make a meaningful impact on the students and administration of our beloved school. Our goal should be to ensure that today's students have the resources, mentorship, and support they need to succeed and prosper in their educational endeavors.

The Sierra Leone Grammar School was founded on 25th March 1845 as Church Missionary Society (C.M.S.) Grammar School - the first secondary school in Sub-Saharan Africa. The school started with 14 pupils, drawn from students of Fourah Bay College and was housed at Regent Square in a massive building which still exists.

Our Endowment Fund

The Sierra Leone Grammar School Endowment Fund is a sustainable source of funding for our beloved alma mater. The fund will enable the school to tackle the growing slate of critical projects.
